LLS wins first Telephone Interpreting Services contract in Republic of Ireland with An Garda Síochána.

Language Line Services has strengthened its relationship with law enforcement agencies by securing a four-year contract with the Republic of Ireland’s Police Service, An Garda Síochána.

Language Line Services won the tender against stiff opposition from other major UK Telephone Interpreting Services suppliers by emphasising key aspects of its operation including quality, security, reliability and unrivalled experience.

The agreement will see Language Line deliver 24/7 telephone interpreting services (TIS) to help the Garda successfully fulfil their role in field operations, immigration and emergency situations while protecting the rights and entitlements of victims, suspects and the general public alike. This is the first time that An Garda Síochána has procured a Telephone Interpreting Service for the force.

An Garda Síochána operates with approximately 14,000 officers located at over 700 stations and polices a population of around 4.4 million. This will give Language Line Services an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the quality of service that all police services in the UK have come to expect, in a brand new geographical market.

As telephone interpreting represents an entirely new concept to the officers and staff of An Garda Síochána, the programme will be supported by a Language Line Services Implementation Team, which will carry out an intensive programme of training and awareness throughout the organisation, both prior to launch and during the early days of the contract. This will include access to fully dedicated training documents and familiarisation with new dual handset phones. The Implementation Team will also work in collaboration with the force to develop and present an internal marketing campaign in order to further disseminate the benefits of the service.
