“Speak Pink” Dual-Handset Telephone
“Speak Pink” Phone to Help Fight Breast Cancer in 170 Languages
LONDON – (July 2nd, 2009) – Language Line Services, the leading provider of language solutions, and Breast Cancer Care today announced the introduction of the “Speak Pink“ breast cancer awareness dual-handset phone. As part of this promotion for breast cancer awareness, health care providers will be able to purchase a pink version of the popular Language Line® Phone, a unique, quick-dial, dual-handset communication tool used to enable three-way communications between medical staff, limited English speaking patients and interpreters. A percentage of the monthly warranty fee of the “Speak Pink” phones will be donated to Breast Cancer Care.
“Language barriers between patients and physicians can reduce limited English speakers’ access to breast cancer information and support,” said David José, Language Line Services’ Business Development and Marketing Director.
Nearly 46,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. “Part of Language Line Services’ core mission is to provide limited English speakers with the necessary language assistance to access quality healthcare,” said José. “The ‘Speak Pink’ phone is one more vehicle to help advance this mission while providing awareness and information to ethnic groups impacted by a language barrier who may not have the level of awareness afforded to others.”
Beginning in July, hospitals and GPs will be able to order “Speak Pink” phones. In addition to the awareness generated by the promotion, Language Line Services will donate a percentage of the proceeds related to the ordering of the “Speak Pink” phones to Breast Cancer Care.
“Commenting on the partnership, Breast Cancer Care's Director of Fundraising Murray Lindo said, "One person is diagnosed with breast cancer every 11 minutes. Our mission is to be there for each and every one of them but we can't do that without the help of companies like Language Line Services.
